Welcome to Orakei Bay

Orakei Bay has a rich 40 year history as one of Auckland’s most iconic waterside wedding, function & event venues.

Just 7 minutes by car (or 10 minutes by train) from Auckland’s CBD, and with 60 free carparks for your guests, our venue is conveniently located on the tranquil shore of Orakei Basin. With floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water and a lawn and garden framed by Pohutukawa trees, Orakei Bay is a local treasure.

Orakei Bay has been managed and operated by Collective Hospitality since 2011 and has undergone a repaint and refresh in the winter of 2025.

Collective Hospitality was co-founded by Semele Miller, a passionate entrepreneur who believes in creating exceptional experiences that resonate with people and create life long memories. Semele has co-founded over 15 startups, including Collective Hospitality, The Wharf, Orakei Bay, I Want Orange and George Street Kitchen.

Our Spaces

Orakei Bay has four distinct internal spaces in addition to our beautiful waterside garden.

You can book all or some of our spaces for your event. Regardless of which space you book, we only ever accept one event per day so you’ll never share the venue.

The Gallery is the perfect location for your reception and to dance the night away. A large versatile space offering the opportunity to be divided into separate spaces to suit your event needs, a dance floor or a gin & tonic station it is completely up to you.

Floor to ceiling windows span the entire length of the room, flooding the space with light. This spectacular space boasts stunning views of the Orakei Bay Lagoon it is sure to take your breath away.

Waterside Garden

Overflowing with an abundance of greenery, our scarlet Pohutakawa frame the water’s edge. The Garden is both an urban sanctuary and a beautiful outdoor event space. Providing more than a botanical backdrop for your special day. The Waterside Garden is a beautiful blank canvas which can be easily transformed to suit your creative vision and provide a truly magical outdoor setting for your special day.
